Privacy Statement and Disclaimer:

  • In compliance with Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) of Alberta, we ensure all collected personal information remains secure and protected.

  • With the consent of individual(s), personal information will be collected, used, and/or disclosed with reason for purpose including, but not limited to, arranging support services with third parties.

  • Collected personal information will only be accessed and used by members of the Ministry under specific circumstances including, but not limited to, preparation of workshops, sessions, or events.

  • The Ministry makes no representations or warranties of any kind for completeness, accuracy, suitability, or availability of information or services provided.

  • The Ministry is not liable for any loss of profits, or direct or indirect damage arising from advising or recommendations that are shared by team members.

Code of Ethics, Rights, and Responsibilities for Volunteer Members

Strict observance of the Code is fundamental to the activity and reputation of the Lutheran Care Ministry. It is essential that all direct service program volunteers (those in face to face contact and any other third-party service provider in face-to-face contact) adhere to this Code.


  • Respect Volunteers are to be treated with mutual respect by all persons connected to the Ministry.

  • Partnership – Volunteers are encouraged to voice opinions and suggestions for the planning and implementation of all activities and reserve the right to choose where, when, how and with whom the work will happen.

  • Information – Volunteers are to receive access to information on issues concerning their volunteer activities.

  • Equality – Volunteers will not be discriminated against, and in turn, will abide by the Canadian Human Rights Act, which mandates fair treatment with equality, dignity, responsibility, patience, and tolerance. Volunteers will also refrain from discrimination or bias based on individual differences.

  • Confidentiality – Privacy will be protected throughout the course of their volunteer work. No information acquired while volunteering will be disclosed without prior consent of the concerned parties.

  • Reimbursement – Any work-related expenses incurred in the volunteer process will be reimbursed consistent with prior agreement made during the planning of activities.

  • Insurance – Activities will be covered by the Ministry Third Party Insurance Policy.

  • Commitment – Volunteers are encouraged to attend regular meetings and participate in events actively to show support. They will also provide sufficient advance notice if and when they are unable to fulfill volunteer duties.

  • Refusal to Accept Benefits – Volunteers will not receive benefits in any form from participants in volunteer activities, or any related parties.

  • Inappropriate Incidents – Volunteers have the right to decline or stop a volunteer program when encountering inappropriate incidents (e.g. health, danger, financial or unlawful conduct).

  • Harassment Harassment means any unwelcome comment or behavior that is offensive, demeaning, humiliating, derogatory, or any other inappropriate behavior that fails to respect the dignity of an individual.

  • Sexual Harassment – Sexual harassment means any unwelcome sexual advance, comment, expressed or implied sexual demand, touch, joke, gesture, or any other communication or conduct of a sexual nature, whether verbal, written or visual, by any person to another individual within the scope of work. Sexual harassment may be directed at members of any gender and includes harassment based on sexual orientation and gender identity.

Harassment in any form is strictly prohibited and may be grounds for termination as a volunteer, for just cause.

  • Conflict of Interest – Conflict of interest arises when a person participates in a decision about a matter (including leasing, sale or provision of goods and services) which may benefit or be seen to benefit that person because of his/her direct or indirect monetary or financial interests affected by or involved in that matter.
